Junior LEGO League

The ACE Junior LEGO League worked very hard all year to produce a LEGO Creation to based on criteria given by the FIRST LEGO League, even including sounds and motion! Each LEGO League was asked to create a project using LEGOs to demonstrate the symbiotic relationship between the Honey Guide Bird and the Honey Badger.  Honey Guide Birds locate beehives and Honey Badgers, and then lead Honey Badgers to those hives, where the Honey Badgers are able to eat the honey produced by the bees.

The ACE Junior LEGO League presented their LEGO creation at the Junior LEGO League Competition at the Verizon Center this March.  Because of their excellent presentation, they were invited to attend the FIRST LEGO League Jr. Creature Craze LEGO World Festival Expo, part of the FIRST LEGO League Championship in St. Louis, Missouri this May.  This invitation-only event included 30,000 students from 38 countries presenting their LEGO projects!

The Junior LEGO League from ACE is very proud to have won the Outstanding Team Work Award from the LEGO World Festival Expo for excellence in the work of the entire team together in creating and presenting their project.

We are extremely proud of our Junior LEGO League and their creativity and hard work all year long!

Fitness Challenge

The Physical Fitness Challenge for elementary students will run between Monday, May 22nd, and Friday, May 26th.  The Fitness Challenge will consist of running, push-ups, sit-ups, and a sit and reach.

Each child will bring home his/her individual requirements. The students have been busy preparing for the various challenges.  Those who can meet the standard will receive an  award.  We will need many volunteers to make this event a success for the students.  Please contact Mrs. Stergar at to volunteer or complete the sign-up form and return it to the office.   Good luck to all of our students who are participating.  Go Team ACE!

Art Fair

During the week of May 22nd - 26th, the Academy will be hosting an ongoing, in-school Art Fair.  Student created artwork will be on display throughout the building.  Judging of all student work will take place prior to the art fair by local artists and art teachers.

Awards will be given for Best of Show, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention in each class.  The school will be open during the school day, May 22-26, for parents, family, and friends to view the artwork.  Please bring your family and friends to enjoy the displays!

Science Fair

Elementary students were invited to do projects to be presented at the ACE Science Fair!  Many students participated, did experiments, and created posters on everything from the effect of batteries on animal tissue to the effectiveness of a homemade vacuum.  Eight ACE Science Fair Winners will  represent the Academy and present their projects at the Fairfax County Science & Engineering Fair at George Mason University this May.  It was a wonderful turnout of projects with a wide range of subject matter.  Thank you to the many participants and we wish our ACE representatives well as they present their projects at GMU in May.
