Good Friday seems like a strange name for a day that marks the death of our dear Savior. Jesus suffered the most extreme punishment followed by the most painful death on a cross. And all of this happened on Good Friday. Although no one called it Good Friday on that particular day. All of Jesus followers were sad and saw nothing good in what happened that day. They thought everything was over. They thought all hope was gone. They didn’t understand God’s wonderful plan to save us all from our sins! All those years ago, Jesus took our punishment for all of our sins and by his death we are made clean in the eyes of God.
On Easter morning, three days after Jesus died, He came to life again. He arose from the grave and His friends were so happy. They came to understand that God loved them so much that Jesus had died for them. They rejoiced because they finally understood God’s bigger plan.
Will you rejoice on Good Friday this year? Do you understand God’s awesome plan? He loves you so much that He died for you. We can rejoice on Good Friday and Easter morning and every day because of Jesus.
