Return of the School Bedtime
Have the long days of summer removed all traces of your child’s normal bedtime? You are not alone! About two weeks before school starts is a great time to begin moving up bedtimes a little earlier each night until your child is back to their school bedtime.
Back to School Shopping
I can still remember how excited I got when it was time to go back to school shopping. Make back to school shopping fun by letting your child pick out the pencil case they like best or maybe going for ice cream after the shopping is done. Don’t forget to check and see if your child’s uniforms from last year still fit. A lot of growing can happen over the summer.
Return of the School Morning Rush
For some, the summer months mean a little less rush in the mornings. Remember to do all that you can the night before to help ease the morning rush. Sure your child wears a uniform and that makes getting ready easy but it will be even easier if he or she lays out the uniform for the next day the night before. Same goes with packing backpack and preparing what you can for lunch or snacks for the next day. Get your kids involved and not only are you easing up your morning routine but also teaching responsibility. That’s a win win!
Talk to Your Kids
You may not have thought about this tip yet but talking to your kids about back to school can help reduce anxiety. I know my kindergartner has so many questions about what school will be like and what it is like to go to school ALL day. All kids can benefit from Meet Your Teacher events. Meeting their teacher and seeing the school is a great way to ease nervous feelings. Remember that ACE has it’s Meet the Teacher Day on August 27th.
