For the first time ever, The Academy of Christian Education has elected a Student Council and this month they had their very first meeting. A Student Council consists of a group of students elected by their peers. These students then share ideas and interests with Mrs. Greenwell who will be leading the Student Council this school year. The students are excited for the opportunity to bring their ideas to life! At the first meeting, ACE Student Council had some great fund-raising ideas. They made motions to implement a semi-monthly bake sale in order to raise money for Student Council. With some of those funds, they would like to decorate all the classroom doors for Valentine’s Day. They also plan to have a Valentine’s Day raffle fund-raiser. The Student Council would like to implement a Spirit Week at ACE. Typically, a School Spirit Week is a week of celebrating your school and can include wearing certain colors on certain days. January’s meeting may be over but these council members have plenty of ideas for the next meeting. And even if they didn’t, the class representatives for each grade level have many ideas of their own! Some of the ideas topping the list are:
Recycling bins for every classroom
A student suggestion box
Fun in-school events to make up for field trips this year
The students at ACE are excited about the new Student Council and a way to share their own ideas for the school. ACE Student Council is a great way for our children to experience leadership roles at a young age. They are building their public speaking, communication and teamwork skills as well. And who knows what such opportunities will lead to!
